Coach Burgess speaks radiantly of his team. Saying, “This team has taught me time and time again not to judge a book by its cover and that when you’re willing to work for your goals, the sky is the limit. They continue to surprise me with their dedication, and the payoff continues to show up in more ways than I can count.”
As they focus on “getting better every day and enjoying the journey with each other,” Burgess highlights his love for their “little wrestling family” by sharing the joy he finds in “being able to mentor these kids using the adversity and lessons that wrestling provides for young people as a guide; but really it comes down to them just being fun hard-working kids that our whole staff enjoys being around.”
Of course, his favorite memory with the group is “going to our annual holiday outing at the movies and Larisa sneaking a pet bird into the movie theatre that may or may not have pottied on another kid trying to hold it.” Apparently, the aforementioned bird’s name was – “Bird.”
Last season, the team got to see their hard work pay off as they pulled “out a three-peat in the GWAL as champions.”Now, they are focused on “getting better every day.” The team will be losing a group of “really special seniors this year and want to make some special memories with them.”
