VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
A personal goal I have this year is to ultimately work on my personal growth, such as taking time to focus on my attitude, values, and actions. Just bettering myself in simpler terms.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I’ve had in this past year would have to be anytime I’m hanging out with my two close friends, Aarriel and Ally. There’s never a dull moment with them!
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory just recently happened at my club tournament in Lawrence. It was a championship match and game point for my club team, Wichita Legacy. While in serve receive, our setter Jada said, “This ball right here! Whoever I give it to, you have to put the ball down!” And that really stuck with me! So, when the ball was served over the net, I transitioned back to hit a quick one-ball. Jada happened to set me, and with speed and strength, I swung and tooled the block and watched as the ball flew out of bounds. I grew with excitement when turning around and looking at my teammates and coach’s ecstatic faces!
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Laila Christmon. She is the best teammate anyone could ask for. I’ve dealt with a lot of personal problems, such as self-esteem issues, throughout my high school volleyball career. However, Laila made me forget about my problems and made volleyball fun again. It was and still is always her I can talk to without her judging me or disregarding my feelings. She has made the past three years fun and unforgettable. I’m glad we have built our bond and are really good friends now.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite thing about being a part of the Heights and Wichita legacy volleyball teams is that even though it’s seasonal and you continuously meet new people, it still feels like family.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
If I could pick any place for a summer vacation, I would have to pick to go to Chicago, Illinois, with my family. I want to visit and see where my mom grew up while enjoying the weather and the amazing environment, and the people in Chicago.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
If I was given $500 in the next 24 hours, this might sound boring to some, but I would spend it on my dual credit college classes that I am taking! It would cover the cost of them, and I wouldn’t have to worry about paying for them later!
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I am a part of Rise Up for Youth: sisterhood. This youth group helps with empowering the youth and being taught important things that will impact your future. For the past four years of high school, sisterhood is where I can share my stressors in life and receive amazing advice from women older and younger than me! I really recommend young girls to try out sisterhood, especially if you need some guidance or just someone to talk to!
VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?
I am not apart of any academic activities; however, I am an honor roll student making all A’s and some B’s along the way!
