College preparations are already underway for Addy Brown as she focuses her efforts on her personal goals of “winning a state championship and getting Kansas Gatorade player of the year for basketball.”
Having already made an official visit to Iowa State, Brown enjoyed getting to “hang out with my teammates and really got to enjoy my time with them.” All while being able to hang her hat on her favorite athletic memory of “winning AAU nationals last summer.” Telling VYPE, “It was my last AAU season. So, to go out a national champ was really special to me.”
As a freshman, Brown’s athletic endeavors were impacted by her teammate, “Sydney Nilles.”
Brown says Nilles “was a senior my freshman year, and she left the biggest impression on me. She was always encouraging me and was a great leader for our team.” An example she tries to maintain through her many involvements in her community.
With “30 hours of community service each year,” as well as an NHS membership, CBK intern (Citizen’s Bank of Kansas Intern), and Americorps Member (100 hours of tutoring at an elementary school. I help out in 1st grade, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade) Brown is certainly a leader on and off the court.
