VYPE spoke with Wichita Southeast’s Zionne Williams to discuss the upcoming track season.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goal for this year would be to walk across the stage at graduation being committed to a college and opening a new greater chapter in my life.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I had in the last year would have to be any outings I had with family. They mean the world to me and they bring a special light to my life.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
I don’t really have a specific favorite teacher. I will say though there are a few who saw great potential in me and never let me fail and continued to push me.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic moment would have to be sophomore year during track season. I qualified for state in the 100-meter dash and being the youngest out there I was very nervous but after getting on the podium I felt like I could do it all at that moment.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
It would have to be an old teammate of mine Aaliyah Richard we just have that older-younger-sister bond. Anytime I was down she was there to lift me up and vice versa.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of being at Southeast is the new environment. With this being my first year at Southeast and being the only senior on the basketball team I just felt the love from everyone coaches, staff, and players.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
My dream vacation is somewhere hot with some good food. So probably Jamaica and I’m most definitely taking my little sister with me. we would have a ball and just kick it all night.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
If I were given $500 right now I would put maybe $300 up in my saving for college and spend the rest on taking my family to dinner and of course filling up my gas tank because gas still isn’t cheap.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I help out a youth boys and girls basketball team grades 6th-8th called midwest chaos.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I’m also involved in and one of the presidents of a school program called JAG-K. With me being new to Southeast I just wanted to really get involved somehow plus I love to be a leader to younger kids or even students my age.
