Calvin Bell, a soccer athlete at Wichita Northwest, was an honorable mention all-league soccer player for the Grizzlies last season. Bell and the team have worked together in the preseason to prepare for the tough road ahead.
“I, as well as my teammates, worked a ton in the offseason,” Bell said. “We had summer conditioning and weights but we got lots of training sessions on our own. Really just building a lot of chemistry. After every practice scrimmage a lot of us would go out to eat together.”
With the team chemistry the Grizzlies built over the offseason, Bell is ready to help his team in any way he can, including improving his own game.

“Some goals I really want to accomplish by the end of the season is to win everything,” Bell said. “City league, regionals, and state. We’ve had a rough start to the season but I think we’re improving after every game and every training session.”
Bell’s schedule is busy year-round, with another sport in the spring and classes throughout the year.
“Another sport I participate in is tennis,” Bell said. “I’m also in the ECA program at Northwest, which allows me to take college courses for free and receive college credit from it.”
After high school, Bell hopes to continue his soccer career and educational career at the next level, while also continuing doing what he loves to do.
“My future plans are to go to college and continue my soccer career,” Bell said. “I would also love to continue making content for my fishing YouTube channel, Fishing With Calvin. Along with soccer, I love fishing and I think it would be awesome to make a full-time income out of something I enjoy doing.”
