Wichita Northwest’s Kristian Urbano has put his heart and soul into this soccer season, and has been more than happy with the outcome. The honorable mention all-league player’s favorite moment from the season so far was the most intense game of the year not too long ago.
“My most memorable moment from the season so far would definitely be our game against North,” Urbano said. “It was an intense game and it went into double overtime. The energy that we had as a team throughout the game was incredible. Everybody was determined and it was definitely one of the better games we played this season so far. The game was just going back and forth on goals and goal chances. It made the game very interesting to watch because it was always going both ways.”
Hoping to become the best leader he can be, Urbano hopes to take his team as far as they can go for his senior year.
“A goal I have as an individual would be to reach close to 20 goals this season,” Urbano said. “Another goal I have is to win a regional title. I just want to keep pushing myself and my team to get better and stay positive, win or lose.”
While he worked all preseason to be ready to go, Urbano knows the work is never done.
“Something that I would definitely like to work on is getting stronger and faster than what I already am,” Urbano said. “Every day I make sure to put my all into what I’m doing and whatever the result is I worry about what I could do better and get to work.”
Urbano hopes to continue playing the game he loves, while also getting an education after high school.
“After high school, I plan to attend college, however I’m currently undecided on where,” Urbano said. “I want to continue to play soccer at the college level. I also want to pursue a degree in the engineering field. I want to either get a degree in mechanical engineering or Robotics and Automation. I’m excited for wherever the future may take me.”
