Wichita North baseball player Orlando Flores-Solis spoke to VYPE to say “My favorite part of being on this team is being able to hang out with guys that are ready to win and to compete”. Going on to express “My teammate MJ has left the biggest impression on me because, even though I hardly knew him outside of baseball, he knew how to guide me to success on the field, and he helped me a lot when he was behind the home plate”.
“My personal goals for this year are to guide my team to a winning record this season and to have a lower earned run average than my junior year” said Solis. Explaining, “My sport has helped me learn to be calm and collected in difficult times, which is very important on a daily basis”.
Solis also participates in Reality U, “which is a program that helps students in middle and high school learn about financial literacy by offering a form of hands-on learning”. In all of his endeavors, Solis applies a key piece of advice he has received. Specifically, what he says is “Some of the most valuable advice someone has given me. That in order to achieve the outcome that I desire, I must put in that same amount of effort”.
He also shared “I would like to thank my family for being supportive of me on and off the field. And I would like to shoutout my coach Randy Griffitts for being there for me and my teammates on and off the field”.
