Wichita East basketball player Rylan Chandler recently completed an interview with VYPE.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
Some of my personal goals this year are definitely making a run for state and being able to play at Wichita State, that’s something I haven’t accomplished while in high school and I’ll try my hardest to get it done. Another goal is to be the defensive player of the year.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite memory is winning the MAYB national championship.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part about being on this team is definitely being around the girls and having a family foundation. I feel each game we’re building more chemistry and getting better as a whole, and that’s one of the best feelings seeing your team go up together.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Something that the sport has taught me in my daily life is if you put the work and effort into doing something it’s going to get accomplished you just have to stay dedicated and understand that there are going to be ups and downs but that’s apart of it and that’s what make it “your story”.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
The best advice I’ve gotten is “Treat others the way I’d want to be treated”.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Someone who inspires me is my sister, she missed this season which is her senior season due to a knee injury but I see how she’s staying positive, she still manages to help me on and off the court, along with helping the team with her advice despite having her own struggles with her knee has made me look up to her even more.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
I would like to shout out my family! They’re my biggest supporters, they lift me up all the time, they just don’t tell me the things I wanna hear they also tell me the things I need to work on & as a player I feel that really does help me better, and improve my game.
