Q&A with Wichita South’s Ilse Zuniga – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Donut Whole

Wichita South softball player Ilse Zuniga recently completed an interview with VYPE.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goal this year is giving it my all to make this last year of high school memorable.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory is my first catch in a game, the thrill of playing and being competitive but also being able to share that moment with my team and coaches.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

The teammate who has left the biggest impression on me has been Alonie Madrid who is the reason I got into softball and found my love for the sport. She has helped me with my batting ,throwing, and catching. She is the best teammate someone could ask for.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part about being on this team is that there is never a dull moment. From the coaches to my teammates, we all know how to have fun and how to work hard towards our goals.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

I also got the chance to participate in volleyball last season.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Softball has taught me that hustling and working hard helps you improve and become stronger at something that you never thought you could get. The power you have is always there if you know how to use it, it can make all the change you need.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

The best advice I have received is that it is never too late to learn something new and become passionate about it.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

My whole family inspires me. They know how to work towards their goals and overcome obstacles some may not be able to overcome. They are my rock and are the reason I try my hardest at everything I love.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

I would like to shoutout my parents who have always done their best to support me and give me everything I could ask for. They are the reason I am who I am, and I would like them to know that i appreciate and hope to make them proud the way they make me proud everyday. I would also like to shout out my brothers who help me with all the things I ask for help with and my coaches who helped me learn how to play and helped me achieve and continue to achieve my new goals.
