Wichita Public Schools recommends a November bond proposal – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

Wichita Public Schools administration has recommended a November bond proposal to the Board of Education. WPS developed a list of potential school improvement projects, based on community and staff input, and is seeking additional community feedback.

WPS added two additional opportunities for feedback. The come-and-go sessions allow community members to learn about potential projects, provide feedback on the projects, and to use the “Build a Bond” tool to craft their own project proposal.

Sessions will be held:

  • Wednesday, April 15, 5 – 7 p.m., Mueller Elementary, 2500 E. 18th St. N.
  • Friday, April 17, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., Wichita Public Library Rockwell Branch, 5939 E. 9th St. North. NEW!  Not a program of Wichita Public Library
  • Sunday, April 19, 12 – 4 p.m., Open Streets ICT, WSU and Shocker Neighborhood.
  • Monday, April 20, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. and 7 – 8 p.m., Alvin Morris Administrative Center, 903 S. Edgemoor. These meetings will be before and after the Tri-Governmental meeting held at the same location from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 21, 5 – 7 p.m., Northwest High School, 1220 N. Tyler.
  • Wednesday, April 22, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., Alvin Morris Administrative Center, 903 S. Edgemoor.NEW!
  • Wednesday, April 22, 5 – 7 p.m., Chisholm Trail Elementary, 6015 Independence, Park City
  • Thursday, April 23, 5 – 7 p.m., Truesdell Middle School, 2463 S. Glenn.

The average age of Wichita Public Schools’ buildings is more than 60 years old. Aging infrastructure and changing city dynamics present unique challenges that can’t be addressed with capital funds. WPS believes that students deserve learning environments to match their potential and staff deserve to work in high-quality spaces

Additional information will be presented to the Board of Education at the April 6 meeting with an anticipated formal recommendation of a bond referendum at the June 1 meeting.
