Wichita Heights runner Gracie Spires interviewed with VYPE to talk about who she is.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
Some of my personal goals for this year is to be able to maintain a good GPA like I have throughout high school, but also have some sort of plan for what I want to do AFTER high school. I would just like to be more informed and educated on the things I need in order to be somewhat successful in life as well.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I’ve had in the last year was being able to make new friends and create more memories with them.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
My favorite teacher from any grade would have to be my current band teacher, Mr. Kemp. He is very understanding of our schedules and treats us like we are adults, and I appreciate him for educating me on realistic things in life and what I should be looking for to be prepared to take on life.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory would have to be running cross country last year (my junior year). As time passed I just continued improving and I have found a different kind of love for running than I had in the past.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
A teammate that has left the largest impression on me would have to be one of our current runners now, Jack. He is incredibly fast (running a 16 minute 5k), and he is very encouraging and I look up to him a lot whenever it comes to running.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part about being on the team that I’m on is that we are like family. We are always there for each other even outside of sports, and I’m glad we were able to maintain friendships and always catch up if we haven’t spoken to one another for a long time. The bond we have is strong and I really like that about our team.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
I believe that if I were to travel anywhere for a summer vacation, I would go to Greece and I would take my best friend with me.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
If you gave me $500 and I had to spend it in the next 24 hours, I would spend it on my college credit classes that I am currently taking. It’s hard to pay for now so it would be a huge help to be able to take $500 worth of college credit classes.
VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?
I used to be involved with National honors society but I’m no longer involved with it a whole bunch anymore.
