Wichita Trinity’s Donald Collier – Athlete Spotlight Presented By AOA Now

By Blake Chadwick

Wichita Trinity Academy senior Donald Collier is a workhorse and a kid who truly gets it when it comes to getting things done.

Clocking in with a 4.50 second 40-yard dash, Collier is one of the fastest kids in the state and uses his speed to his advantage while he flies around offensively and defensively.

Being a slot receiver and safety could be potentially grueling to play both ways game in and game out, but for Collier, it doesn’t matter. He thrives.

“I like to play smart and aggressive football,” he said. “I watch film to notice different alignments [defensively] and to know how to run routes in different coverages [offensively].”

In 2022, he had 103 receptions 1,710 yards receiving yards and 25 touchdowns. He also went off on the defensive side, as well, totaling 90 tackles, one forced fumble and one pick-six. On top of all that, he also was the kick returner.

Collier was able to garner first-team All-State and first-team All-League recognition, as well as being named a Class 3A player of the year finalist.

The senior has spent all offseason “perfecting his craft” and getting stronger to gain some more mass as he gets one step closer to achieving his dream of playing college football.

An even bigger dream Collier has, though, is to play at the Division I level, and with four Division II offers, and a preferred walk-on offer from the University of Kansas, Collier keeps on inching closer. With everything in focus, Collier has a couple things fully on his mind for the season.

“For the team I would love to win some games. Most people don’t think we are going to win, and for myself, I have a couple Kansas records I’d like to break this year,” Collier said.
