Winning the Class 6A basketball tournament was an honor for Wichita Heights’ T.J. Williams, but he is not satisfied with just one.
“The most exciting thing about this season is really being with my guys, handling battles with them six days out the week,” Williams said. “Also looking forward to becoming a two-time state champion.”
Williams is one of the elite offensive players in the state, as he averaged 17 points per game on the way to being a first team all-league and all-state player for the Falcons.
But in order to reach the level Williams desires, he knows he has one area he needs to work on.
“One area I know I can improve on is my defense,” Williams said. “While trying to improve on that, I’ve been working out my lower body to keep my legs in good condition while sitting down on defense and getting blocks and steals.”
There are some lofty goals Williams has in mind for his senior season before playing for Wichita State next season. According to 247 Sports, Williams is a three-star prospect and the No. 3 ranked senior in the state.
“Some individual goals I have for myself is being an all-state player, while bringing in wins and good character to my team,” Williams said. “On top of that, being a McDonald’s All-American, Gatorade Player of Kansas but of course the end goal is to be state champs.
