Wichita South’s Zion Butler was one of the top players not only in the City League last season, but in Class 6A as well.
The versatile senior averaged 18 points, six rebounds and four assists a year ago, which earned her first team all-league and all-state honors.
So what is in store in 2023-2024?
“Some goals I have for this season is to get my 1,000-point mark, win state and make first team all-state again,” Butler said.
The Wichita City League can be a grind going head to head with traditional powers like Bishop Carroll and Wichita Heights.
Butler knows the Titans have to play as one in order to have success.
“I am most excited to build chemistry with my team and to play against competition where we will have to stick together to pull off the win,” Butler said.
With that chemistry though comes being more of a vocal leader for Butler. That is just one area she is hoping to improve on.
“A few ways I want to improve is being more vocal on the court and being a more consistent shooter,” Butler said. “I have been shooting more during the off-season to try and improve that. During the off-season I have been playing games, training, camps, and workouts.”
