Wichita East’s, Nyah Chandler – Vype KS Poll Winner Presented By Visit Wichita

By Matt Browning

No matter the setbacks, Wichita East’s Nyah Chandler is determined to get back on the basketball court this season.

During her offseason workouts, Chandler injured herself, but in her mind, she is proceeding like she is going to play.

“It’s my goal to play and help my team by the end of the season,” Chandler said. “As a senior I’m looking forward to my final season, making lasting memories with my teammates and giving it my all on the court.”

Chandler averaged 21 points per game last season, while be chosen first team all-league and second team all-state.

Despite being a prolific scorer, Chandler was focused on being an even better offensive player this season.

“Some goals I have for myself is improving my shooting accuracy, increasing my agility and speed,” Chandler said. “I want to improve working on my free throws. It can be super beneficial in close games. Improving free throws can definitely make a difference on the court.”

The Blue Aces went 11-11 last season and fell to Derby in the 6A sub-state finals. Before her injury, Chandler worked hard to make sure that result was different in 2024.

“This offseason I’ve been working on my skills so i can help my team grow,” Chandler said. “I’ve been attending camps learning and growing how I can improve.”
