Q&A with Wichita West’s Mason Cherry – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by AOA

Wichita West baseball player Mason Cherry has completed an interview with VYPE.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

One of my personal goals this year is to go play baseball in college.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite memory is me getting on ESPN for jumping over the catcher this is my favorite memory because as a kid I always wanted to make the news.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

My teammate Gunner has left the biggest impression on me because he is always willing to get in the gym and workout and talk about things like baseball and even life goals.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part of being on the team is no matter what happens my team never disrespects each other or ever blames things on one of our teammates and I feel like that is needed to be apart of a good team.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

I’m apart of 316 baseball club this is for summer baseball and this club is helping me get into college and prepare for it.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Baseball has helped me in my everyday life by realizing everybody has to play their own part and succeed at it to be successful and no matter how much failure does happen you can always bounce back and do better.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

The best advice I’ve gotten is iron sharpens iron and that means get someone is gonna challenge you to become an even better person and sharpen you as a person.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

My Mom inspires me because she grew up with nobody in her life and she still became successful and takes care of me and my siblings so she has taught me to not rely on others and I can be successful by myself.
