Wichita Southeast track’s Angelique Gray knew that she wanted to make her senior year as a Buffalo memorable.
Gray was chosen as the Shelter Insurance Athlete of the Month for April.
“It is an honor to be given this opportunity,” Gray said.
Gray spent the preseason preparing by staying in shape throughout the fall and winter seasons, which was more of a challenge than normal.
“I kept myself busy cheering throughout the year,” Gray said. “Going into this season I had to mentally and physically prepare myself, since I had taken my junior year off.”
Gray concentrated on bettering herself in every event she was involved in, and still has a lot to prove with a long season ahead.
“I am focused on improving my technique in all my events,” Gray said. “I would like to really improve my jumping height for high jump and my distance for my throwing events.”
After high school, Gray has aspirations to continue her education at WSU, and head into the medical field.
“I plan to attend Wichita State to gain an undergrad in chemistry and biology,” Gray said. “After that I plan to apply for dental school to become a general dentist.”
