Wichita Northwest’s Leah Robinson is coming off a few injuries from her junior year. This season, Robinson wanted to put it all out on the line.
Robinson was chosen as the Shelter Insurance Athlete of the Month.
“Every year before softball starts, I’m in the weight room everyday,” Robinson said. “This year was different because last season I had on and off problems and injuries that really held me back from performing my best. So preseason this year I focused on learning my body and how I can grow as an athlete on my own.”
While stats are important to Robinson, her biggest goal this season is to make an impact on her teammates, coaches, and community members.
“This year I’m really just focused on playing my last season of softball with my best friends, and being a good role model to teach our younger girls how to be great teammates,” Robinson said.
With hopes of making her senior season the best, Robinson is grateful for all the little accomplishments.
“To be an athlete chosen means a lot, seeing my peers and friends be in this magazine has always been a cool thing to see and a really inspiring one too,” Robinson said. “Being recognized and appreciated is so special.”
Robinson will be continuing her academic career in college this upcoming fall.
“Next fall I’m going to Kansas State to study Business Marketing,” Robinson said.
