Jackson Ellison, a multisport athlete at Wichita Heights, was named a second-team all-league baseball player last year. Balancing baseball and golf in the spring, Ellison is busy year-round preparing for the seasons.
“It’s an honor,” Ellison said. “It means a ton to be chosen out of all of the great athletes around here.”
While baseball is more of a team sport, Ellison set more personal goals for the golf season, including the big postseason meet.
“The only thing I really wanted to achieve this season was making it to the state tournament,” Ellison said. “The 6A state tournament is being hosted at the golf course that my dad and I are members at, so that was my main goal.”
Trying to find the time to be successful in one sport can be hard enough, but this year, Ellison made playing multiple sports look easy. Especially during the important games and matches.
“The most memorable moment would have to be winning my regional,” Ellison said. “It was my first win in a high school event so that’s kind of hard to beat.”
With lots of options after high school, Ellison would like to continue playing sports at the next level, whichever that may be.
“If the opportunity presents itself I would love to play baseball in college,” Ellison said. “If that doesn’t work out then I would like to play golf. As of right now, I don’t have any offers for either sport. If neither of those work out then I would like to be a PGA Teaching Pro just like my uncle.”
