Wichita North’s Mia Maples – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Old Chicago

Wichita North’s Mia Maples says this year she aims to “be a leader as a senior and to be as focused as I can be in everything I do. Volleyball, cheerleading, studying, etc. are all things I would love to excel in this year.”

Maples went on to say that “A teammate that has left the biggest impression on me will have to be Emily Hynes. I know she’s getting interviewed too and she is just so passionate about this sport. She pushes us on the court because she knows that we could be the best team in our district. She’s always been my pepper partner ever since we first met and is someone I can talk to if I ever feel like we need to fix something and she is just someone who is brutally honest which I love about her.”

She also shared with us one of her favorite (off-court) moments recalling “The most fun I’ve had in this last year was definitely being a part of the student section for North’s football team! It would be our entire volleyball team and a few others just simply having fun and showing up in our school section themes. I got so much closer to my team this way and had so much fun going to Freddy’s afterwards.”

Also off the court Maples participates in “North High’s Senior committee, North High Madrigals, North High Choir, AP and Honors classes, and obtaining college credit in prestigious schools such as Newman University and WSU Tech.”
