Q&A with Wichita South’s Andre Baker – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by When Pigs Fly

VYPE interviewed South’s Andre Baker to find out what athletics means to him.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goal is to be the best version of myself and by doing that I want to take every opportunity to do so whether it is playing track or basketball in college.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I’ve had was when we went to the Salina tournaments and played at these different schools like Buhler and Salina South.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My favorite teacher was Ms. Bradley from my baking and pastry class from 9th through 12th grade. She has taught me a lot of things about baking and even real-world things, she even gave me advice on problems I was dealing with.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite memory was from this season against east at one of our home games when I had caught a lob from one of my teammates and dunked it, the crowd was wild and it was an amazing experience.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

My teammate that gave me the biggest impression was my only senior with me Cadien Neal and i say that because he had pushed me even harder as a teammate and he stuck beside me since my freshman year being the best teammate he could be.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part of this team was just the bonding with the coaches and my teammates on the court but also outside of the court, I have made long-time friends with all of them.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

I would want to go to the Aztec temple and I would bring my mother with me because me and her both have liked interest in how the Aztec people lived and it would just be a great experience.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

If I had 500 dollars to spend I would do a family gathering and we would just go out and eat and have fun at Dave and Busters.
