While the Wichita Heights softball team has struggled this season, that has not lessened senior Ciara Bush’s enjoyment of the campaign.
“We don’t always win but I am very pleased with the girls I get to play with,” Bush said. “They have made my senior season very enjoyable.”
Throughout her high school career, Bush has struggled with confidence. But she made a concerted effort to improve that this season.
“An area I made the most improvement in would be my mindset,” Bush said. “I wasn’t confident at all my junior year but this year has been a lot better. There is not any training for that; it just comes with experience.”
The first doubleheader of the season against Wichita Southeast was a memory from this season that has stood out to Bush.
“One memory from this season that really stood out to me would be the first games of the season,” Bush said. “We played Southeast and we lost our first game, but we came back with an overall better attitude and more confidence and won (the second game).”
Bush spent the first semester this school year studying criminal justice classes at WSU Tech and will be leaving for training in the Marine Corps in June.
