In VYPE’s recent interview with Wichita North football player Jayden Garnes we learned of his goals for the upcoming school year which are “to maintain a 3.2 GPA, to do better in football and get more offers for football.”
Garnes also shared with us his highlight of the past year. Saying “the most fun I’ve had in the last year is when I was playing football in a game against heights and when I went to summer camp. That was my best game and I remember being able to smile during it and I felt happy with my plays. The camp I went to is a camp for diabetics and we do a lot of activities like rope climbing, swimming and more. It’s for a week but I always really enjoy it and seeing all my old friends.”
From old friends to new, Garnes told VYPE “my favorite part of being on the team is the bonds I’ve made with everyone. I learned that when your on sports teams you meet way more people and this team has showed me proof of that. We all treat each other like family and we also hold each other accountable if we make mistakes.”
Off the field Garnes dreams of vacationing in “Japan or Galveston Texas. I say Japan because I would want to try their street food and visit their anime and manga shops. I like anime and my favorite anime at the moment is demon slayer. The reason I say Galveston Texas is because I like going to the beach and there are a lot of fun activities and gifts shops you can go to. If I could bring anyone with me it would be my best friend Elijah. I say him because he shares my humor and we like a lot of the same interest.”
Garnes also said “I am involved in the Bio-Med program at North High. When I grow up I want to be a biologist or veterinarian so I joined Bio-Med to start me on that path.”
