Wichita East athlete Abel Gonzalez shared in his recent interview with VYPE “my favorite part about being on this team is getting to see how everyone plays and also to see the connections we all have together. We get along very well it’s like one big family that loves the sport and that want to grow and win”. Together they have been able to “win a city league title” something that Gonzalez had fun doing.
Gonzalez says that he hopes “to have very successful season hopefully win a regional title and hopefully go further, and also to just graduate with this being my last year of high school”.
Outside his athletic endeavors Gonzalez participates in service to his community through “Aces in the Community. Here at East High we do Aces in the Community and we go around picking up trash, giving food and clothes to those in need, and even sometimes I’ll go out to our garden and help plant some plants at school”. He is also involved “in Skills USA, Skills USA is a United States career and technical student organization serving more than 395,000 high school, college and middle school students and professional members enrolled in training programs in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations”.
Gonzalez also told VYPE that “If I could choose any place to go to in the summer I would definitely choose Spain. In Madrid, Spain I would want to visit the Real Madrid stadium and just do a lot of touring, and I would for sure bring my family”.
