Recently, VYPE had the privilege to talk to and to find out more about Wichita West High School senior athlete Ashley Capi.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
Capi: Working on being a better player than last year and having my teammate’s backs.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Capi: Probably my senior night. We had a good game against Nickerson, and we all played great.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
Capi: My favorite teacher would be Mr. Chau. He teaches College Algebra. I like how he teaches and encourages us to be better.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Capi: My favorite memory came during my sophomore year when we decided to egg my former coach, Coach Knox.
VYPE: Who do you consider your role models?
Capi: My father and mother are role models to me. They have been very supportive of me playing soccer and encourage me to keep playing.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Capi: I would have to say seeing my teammates grow as the season progresses. I’m a senior, and the majority of our team are freshmen and sophomores. I enjoy watching their improvement. I know they will do even better next year.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
Capi: I would love to go to Barcelona, Spain. I would take my youngest brother, Alexander.
VYPE: If we gave you $5000 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Capi: I would donate $1,000 to the girls’ soccer team, and the rest would go towards college.
VYPE: What other sports, activities, or community service projects do you participate in, and how have these helped to prepare you for the future?
Capi: I’m a member of our student council. This helps me become more involved at my school, participate in events we offer, and encourage others to participate.
